The Permanent is one of downtown Vancouver's most architecturally significant private event spaces. Constructed in 1907 for the B.C. Permanent Loan & Savings Company, the building is a neo-classical masterpiece — soaring ceilings, original marble detailing, and intricate plasterwork that most modern venues spend heavily to imitate.
The centrepiece is a custom-built 16-foot heritage bar installed during the venue's conversion from working bank to event space. That bar alone shapes how we design service flow here: we stage cocktail programs around it during receptions, and transition it into a coffee + dessert station after the main course of seated dinners.
For formal galas, award dinners, and black-tie weddings, this is one of very few spaces in the city where the architecture does the heavy lifting — you don't need uplighting or decorative draping to make a room read as premium.
