Catering at The Wallace
Modern 3,500 sq ft third-floor Shipyards venue with a 2,400 sq ft outdoor patio — up to 200 cocktail guests or 180 seated.
The Wallace sits on the third level of the restored Machine Shop building in the North Vancouver Shipyards district, above the Pipe Shop. Opened more recently, it was purpose-built as an event venue — so unlike heritage conversions, everything from power distribution to HVAC to floor plans is optimised for catering.
The interior is modern-industrial: exposed wood beams, ample natural light from large windows, a clean warm-wood palette. 3,500 sq ft of open-concept indoor space pairs with a 2,400 sq ft outdoor patio, giving you indoor-outdoor flexibility without needing a tent.
Verified capacity is 180 seated / 200 standing. At that scale The Wallace hits a sweet spot we rarely find — intimate enough to still feel personal, large enough to serve a proper plated dinner with a full bar and dance floor.

Event logistics
Operational notes from our coordinators — the things that affect how a quote comes together for this venue.
- Load-in
- Elevator-served third-floor space. Slower load-in than ground-floor venues; we arrive 30 min earlier to compensate.
- Kitchen
- Many Vancouver venues have warming or prep kitchens only (not full hot-cooking lines). We bring our own mobile induction + convection units when needed — already factored into the per-guest rate for this venue.
- Bar
- For venues without an in-house liquor licence, we coordinate through our hospitality partners under a BC Special Event Permit — one itemised wine/beer/spirits line on your quote, no hidden markup.
- Patio
- The outdoor patio is usable spring through fall. We typically stage the bar + cocktail reception outdoors (weather permitting), then move guests inside for dinner service.

FAQ
About catering at The Wallace
Wallace or Pipe Shop — which should I choose?
The Wallace suits 100–180 guest events wanting a cleaner modern aesthetic with indoor-outdoor flow. The Pipe Shop suits 180–500 guest events wanting industrial heritage character and more scale. Both have the same operator, so either way we're working with people we know.
Is the patio usable for a ceremony?
Yes — a patio ceremony followed by an indoor reception is the most common configuration at The Wallace. We plan the menu timing around the transition between the two.
