Catering at The Polygon Gallery
Vancouver's flagship waterfront gallery — 180 seated or 600 standing, framed by floor-to-ceiling harbour views.
The Polygon Gallery sits on the North Vancouver Lonsdale waterfront, looking directly across Burrard Inlet to the downtown skyline. The building is an architectural landmark in its own right — a mirrored, cantilevered volume designed by Patkau Architects, opened 2017. For an event, that architecture does half the work: the main-floor gallery gives you a clean, gallery-lit open plan with floor-to-ceiling south-facing windows, and the second-floor exhibition space offers a more intimate alternative.
We have catered here in every format the space allows — multi-course plated dinners under the exhibition ceilings, flowing cocktail receptions that use the full ground floor, corporate activations that carry out onto the balcony terrace on clear evenings. The building accommodates up to 600 standing guests; most seated plated events land at 120–180 covers.
What clients appreciate most is the quality of the light. Between the white-box gallery walls, the waterfront glazing, and the programmable house lighting, the room photographs beautifully at any hour. Our team builds menu and service pacing around that — canapé rounds timed to sunset, late-night dessert station in the gallery's centre, speeches staged against the city-skyline window.

Event logistics
Operational notes from our coordinators — the things that affect how a quote comes together for this venue.
- Load-in
- Direct service-road access from Lonsdale Quay. Level loading, no stairs — which keeps rental-staff costs down vs venues with stair-carry.
- Kitchen
- Warming kitchen only (no hot-cooking line). We bring mobile induction + convection units for anything hot — factored into our quote for this venue.
- Bar
- Venue does not hold an in-house liquor licence — requires a BC Special Event Permit or our hospitality-partner licensing, which we coordinate.
- AV + power
- Gallery lighting is programmable. Standard 120V outlets throughout; additional 220V available on request for induction/kitchen equipment.

FAQ
About catering at The Polygon Gallery
What's the largest seated dinner you can cater at the Polygon?
Up to 180 guests for a full plated dinner in the main gallery. Above that, we pivot to a family-style or stations format that uses the full footprint more efficiently.
Can we do a ceremony + reception in one rental at the Polygon?
Yes. Typical flow is ceremony on the second-floor gallery, cocktail hour on the ground floor with a canapé program, then transition back for seated dinner or an open reception. The Polygon's rental team handles the floor-plan flip; our team times the menu to the rooms.
Does the Polygon have an on-site kitchen?
Warming kitchen only — suitable for holding and plating, not for hot-line cooking from raw. We bring our own induction and convection units for any cooked-to-order courses. This is already factored into our quote for this venue, so there's no hidden fee.
How do you scope pricing for a Polygon event?
Every proposal at this venue is built for the specific evening — guest count, service style, bar program, rental tier, and seasonal ingredients all shape the investment, and the Polygon's warming-kitchen setup changes our logistics in ways worth walking through. Book 15 minutes with our team; a written proposal lands within 48 business hours of that first call.
